Facebook Hacked: Up to 50 Million Accounts Attacked
Were you recently required to log into Facebook again on your computer or phone? That measure was taken by Facebook to reset accounts that were able to “stay logged in” after a massive attack – maybe one of the most significant in Facebook’s history - was executed last Friday.
The cyber-attack centered around the re-use of Facebook access tokens. Access tokens are the equivalent of digital keys that keep people logged into Facebook on their devices so they don’t have to log in every time they visit the website or open the app. The details of who was behind the attack is still unclear.
At this point you don’t have to do much of anything, as Facebook reset their systems relating to access tokens. That’s what caused you to have to log in again on or after Friday when you tried to visit Facebook.
As always though, whenever there’s a cybersecurity breach it wouldn’t be a bad idea to change your password.
